Covid-19/Coronavirus Wedding FAQ

We understand that you may be experiencing a lot of additional stress due to the Covid-19/Coronavirus and worry about how this may impact on your wedding.

We wanted to let you know what options are available if your wedding has to be or postponed or plans change at short notice.

Here is some more information which should hopefully answer any questions you may have at this moment.

What if we need to reschedule our wedding due to government restrictions?

Rest assured that you won’t incur additional charges if you wish to reschedule (subject to our availability). Unfortunately booking fees aren’t refundable but should be covered under your wedding insurance.

Couples that have paid in full for their wedding would be offered credit and the option to reschedule without penalty for a future date. Get in touch with your venue and us as soon as possible to explore their availability.

What if some elderly or close family members aren’t able to attend the wedding?

As these guests won’t be able to be part of the main wedding pictures we will be offering the option of a separate one or two hour shoot to capture some beautiful images that would complement your wedding pictures and that you could include in your album. You could even dress up again and arrange something at the same venue.

What if we reduce our guest numbers, change venue or schedule for the day?

We will adapt with you. If your guest numbers reduce to 50 or less then we could offer a reduced service with just one photographer and/or reduced coverage if we’re needed for less than 8hrs.

Please keep us updated with any developments or changes to your venue or schedule and we will adapt our approach to covering your wedding to suit your needs.

What if we need to change wedding venue and won’t be able to capture the couple shots we wanted?

We can come up with a plan to captures some magical shots of you both at a different time and location if your plans change at short notice. It might be that we drive out to a scenic location on the same day as your wedding or schedule a small couple shoot on a different date where you both dress up again. We will do our best to make sure that despite the difficulties, you still get the images you want.

What are you doing to ensure you can still provide coverage for our wedding?

We are taking measures in our workplace, home environments and how we handle our equipment to minimise the spread of the virus.

We are talking to wedding venues to understand what measures they are putting in place and what we can do to co-operate with this.

We are also working to stay in touch with our assistants and fellow photographers that are able to provide backup in the event that we are affected personally by the virus.

We appreciate that we’re in unprecedented times but we be assured we will do all we can to work with you to find a satisfactory solution.

Wedding Day Photos FAQ

HOW LONG HAS WEDDING DAY PHOTOS BEEN IN BUSINESS?

Wedding Day Photos was started by Ed’s dad Geoffrey back in the 1970s. Ed took over following Geoff’s retirement in 2008 and the business has gone from strength to strength.

WHAT AREAS DO YOU COVER?

We mainly cover the Greater Manchester, Lancashire, and Cheshire areas. We regularly travel as far as Chester, Liverpool, Sheffield and have even done special weddings in France and Italy! We will consider shooting at any location if travel and accommodation costs are covered.

WHO WILL BE TAKING THE PHOTOS?

Edwin will be the main photographer for your day.

WHAT IS YOUR EXPERIENCE?

Edwin Stemp MA, has been working as a commercial photographer since 2001, working in fashion and advertising photography as well as over 15 years prior assisting his father and shooting weddings. His most recent work can be viewed at HighContrast.

Our assistants all have over 2 years experience and are trained by ourselves to the standards required for any event such as a wedding or commercial project.

DO YOU WORK ALONE?

Yes, for smaller weddings. In our experience, we find larger wedding parties greatly benefit from having two photographers to capture more guests and more angles of the couple during key moments in the day such as first looks during the ceremony.

WHAT EQUIPMENT DO YOU USE?

We shoot on Nikon Digital SLRs. A wide variety of lenses, Profoto lights if required for dark/rainy days. All images are backed-up on the day as we shoot using a portable backup drive.

ARE YOU INSURED?

Yes, we are insured for our equipment and public liability up to £10m. All our mains-powered equipment is annually PAT tested.

DO YOU SUPPLY IMAGES ON A DISC?

You will receive all hi-res images from your wedding. You will also receive a link to our site to view the highlights of your day (around 140 images). And a second gallery of all the finished images will be made available shortly afterwards where prints can be ordered from.

WHAT IS A STUDIO BOOTH?

Studio Booth is a self-service photo-booth setup that uses fashion-style lighting with a MacBook Pro. We print images from the booth and stick them in your album for guests to sign. The service has proved amazingly popular and fun for guests of all ages. The booth is supervised at all times and comes with an optional props/accessories such as sunglasses, wigs and picture frame etc…

The setup simply requires a floor space of 3m x 3m and a single mains powerpoint nearby.

CAN WE CHOOSE TO HAVE ALL OUR IMAGES IN BLACK & WHITE?

Yes. Typically we convert around 30% of images to black and white when we think the shot suits that style, however we’re happy to make as many conversions as you wish without any extra charge.

HOW MANY PICTURES WILL I GET?

This will vary depending on a number of factors such as number of guests, locations available and venues. On average couples receive over 500 images.

DO YOU SUPPLY WEDDING ALBUMS?

Yes. We supply two ranges of books and albums - Coffee Table-Style and we also supply a range of albums and parent-books from luxury Italian album makers, GraphiStudio. You’ll be able to select the images you wish to include in your album via our online tools. Once we complete the design, we’ll email you a PDF proof before it goes to print, ensuring that you’re 100% happy with the selection and design.

CAN I OR MY GUESTS ORDER PRINTS FROM YOU?

Yes. All your images will be uploaded to an online gallery offering a print ordering service. This can be handy for your guests/family/friends wishing to purchase prints. This gallery can also be used to select images to go into your album.

DO YOU OFFER RETOUCHING?

Yes. Basic retouching such as removal of skin blemishes, hair corrections and small adjustments cost from £6/per person. More complex retouching is quoted upon request.

WHAT IF YOU’RE SICK/ILL/CAN’T COVER OUR WEDDING FOR ANY REASON ONCE WE’VE BOOKED?

We’re well connected with many professional photographers and assistants across the Northwest and would supply an experienced professional to cover your day according to our brief and schedule.

HOW MUCH NOTICE DO WE NEED TO GIVE YOU BEFORE BOOKING?

Typically couples book us between 12-24 months prior to their wedding day. We have been booked with as little as 1 months notice however this is quite rare and our workload during the summer months can mean that we’re not always available at short notice.

CAN YOU OFFER WEDDING VIDEOS?

This is something we are currently developing with associate videographers for 2022. Please ask for more information with your enquiry.

DO YOU OFFER PRE-WEDDING/ENGAGEMENT SHOOTS?

Yes. Please ask about this with your enquiry.

Drone Wedding Photography FAQ

Can you offer drone/UAV photography?

Yes, we are qualified and insured to capture unique and creative images of you and your event using a drone. Flying the drone is subject to suitable weather conditions.

What does UAV stand for?

Unmanned Aerial Vehicle.

Is the UAV safe?

Yes, I have very strict safety measures in place and every aircraft is flight-tested by an inspector before it commences operation. I also have onboard safety measures and at the flick of a switch, the UAV will come “home” and land by itself. The same procedure is in place should the batteries run low or I lose communication with the craft.

Are you licensed to operate a UAV?

Yes, I have operational authorisation from the CAA.

Do you have public liability insurance?

Yes, it's a requirement by law.

Does your UAV fly in the rain?

No, as our UAVs are powered by batteries it could cause damage and/or loose control.

Where can you fly the drone?

The best place to fly is an open area where you do not endanger other people, animals, or property.

What is the maximum operating distance for your UAV?

By law, I have to be able to see my UAV, so there has to be always an uninterrupted line of sight between pilot and UAV. The maximum radius I can fly away from me is 500m. I am also limited to 400ft in height; however, it is sometimes possible to get permission to fly higher.

Is it safe to fly above crowds?

Safety is my main priority and we never fly over an audience or crowd who are not in our control and who are not briefed on the emergency procedures. Most of the time, however, I am able to fly next to crowds with a clear flight line and make it look like we are over them.

How long do the batteries last?

Depending on the weather each battery can last between 20 and 30 minutes. I carry multiple sets with me and can recharge on-site from my vehicle.

What is the maximum speed?

About 25 mph.

How does the wind affect the UAV?

The stronger the winds, the quicker the battery life will reduce. I won’t fly in winds or gusts above 25mph.

I’M INTERESTED IN BOOKING YOU, WHAT SHOULD I DO NEXT?
